Kay Cohen is an Australian visual artist whose practice explores colour, light and form through resin-based works that move between painting and sculpture.

Working primarily with layered epoxy resin, Cohen creates luminous surfaces and dimensional compositions that investigate depth, transparency and spatial perception. Her work often begins digitally and evolves through an intuitive, material-driven process, allowing chance, gravity and light to play an active role in the final outcome.

Cohen’s background in design informs a strong sense of structure and precision, while her studio practice embraces experimentation and technical refinement. Recent works extend beyond the wall into sculptural and modular forms, with an increasing focus on scale, architectural presence and the physical relationship between viewer and object.

Following postgraduate study in Master of Art in Sydney, Cohen spent seven years living and working in France, where her engagement with materiality and process deepened. She now works from her studio in regional Victoria.

Cohen’s earlier career in design and leadership informs a disciplined, material-driven approach to her contemporary art practice.

Her work is held in private collections in Australia and internationally.
